What's your weekend warrior style?
Appreciation & Gratitude: One does not need buildings, money, power or status to practice the Art of Peace. Heaven is right where you are standing, and that is the place to train.
Freedom & Individuality: Those who are possessed by nothing possess nothing.
Stay Active: In our techniques we enter completely into, blend totally with, and control firmly an attack. Strength resides where one's ki is concentrated and stable; confusion and maliciousness arise when ki stagnates.
Give Affection: Even the most powerful human being has a limited sphere of strength. Draw him outside of that sphere and into your own, and his strength will dissipate.
Be sensitive to the feelings of others.
Think about how your actions affect other people.
Pick your battles.
Appreciate the people in your life
In the Art of Peace we never attack. An attack is proof that one is out of control. Never run away from any kind of challenge, but do not try to suppress or control an opponent unnaturally. Let attackers come any way they like and then blend with them. Never chase after opponents. Redirect each attack and get firmly behind it.
Know they Self - The starting point of any journey is with the self. A correct relationship to your self is primary, for from it flow all possible right relationships with others and with the Divine.
Remain modest - regardless of how great may be your merit, be yielding, devoted and moderate, for then you have a true direction for your life.
Strive to live the ordinary life in a non-ordinary way. instead of seeking credit for accomplishment or focusing on results, be content to your task for the task's sake. Herein lies the secret of experiencing a true present.
Your spirit is the true shield.
Partnership - True partnership is achieved only by separate and whole beings who retain their separateness even as they unite. Remember to let the winds of Heaven dance between you.
Shedding Old Skins - sometimes old skins must be shed, and outmoded relationships discarded. This can be particularly challenging when what you are called upon is to abandon some aspect of your behavior or part of your cultural inheritance. for then you must look closely at what, until now, you have proudly claimed as your birthright. whether it is your attachment to your position in society, to the work you do, or even to your beliefs about your own nature, the separation called for will free you to become truly who you are. This takes strength.
Strength - an old form must die so that new energy can be released in a new form. positive growth and change may involve a descent into darkness as part of the cycle of perpetual renewal. As in nature, this progression consists of 5 aspects: death, decay, fertilization, gestation, re-birth. Events occurring may well prompt you to undergo a death within yourself. Remain mindful that the new life is always greater than the old.
Prepare for opportunity disguised as loss. It could involve the loss of someone or something to which you have an intense emotional bond, and through which you are living part of your life. in some way, the bond is being severed, a relationship radically changed, a way of life coming to an end. Seek among the ashes and discover a new perspective a new strength.
In order to rule you must learn to serve.
there may well be surprises, gains or rewards that you did not anticipate. On the side of human nature, this Rune is symbolized by the flight of the eagle, soaring flight free from entanglement, lifting yourself above the endless ebb and flow or ordinary life to acquire broader visions.
Disruption, Beyond our Control - change, freedom, invention, liberation are all attributes of universal disruption. The psyche will try to break free from constricting identification with material reality and will need to experience the world of the archetypal mind.
Disruption is the Great Awakener, although the form of the awakening may vary. It may be a gradual coming to your sense or the onset of power may be such as to rip away the fabric of what you previously know as your reality, your security, your understanding of yourself, your work, your relationships or beliefs.
Disruptions take many forms: a relationship fails, plans go awry, a source of supply dries up do not be dismayed. Whether you created the disruption, or whether it comes from an outside source, you are not without power in the situation. Your inner strength - the will you have funded until now in your life - provides support and guidance at a time when everything you have taken for granted is being challenged. the more severe the disruption in your life, the more significant and timely the requirements of your growth. The universe and your own soul are demanding that you do, indeed, grow.
Dealing with pain and constraint-
sometimes the obstacles we create for ourselves as well as those we encounter in the world around us can be equally difficult to handle.
It is our role to identify our shadow, our dark or repressed side, places where growth has been stunted, resulting in weaknesses that are often projected onto others. Don't take this world personally: work with the shadow, examine what it is in your nature that attracts hardship or misfortune into your life. If you find yourself feeling pain, observe the pain, stay with it, don't try to pull the veil and escape from life by denying what is happening. You will
When you can accept your pain, you will recognize the troubles, denials and setbacks of life as your teachers, guides and allies. There is work to be done on yourself so take it on with good humor and show perseverance.
This is a time to pay off old debts, to restore, if not harmony at least balance. So mend, restore, redress. When fishermen can't go to sea, they repair their nets. Let the constraints of time serve you in righting your relationship to your Self. Be mindful that rectification must come before progress. And as always, consider the uses of adversity.
After Rain Comes the Sun - Joyousness accompanies new energy, energy blocked before now. Light pierces the clouds and touches the waters just as something lovely emerges from the depths: The soul is illuminated from within, at the meeting place of Heaven and Earth, the meeting of the waters.
There is new clarity which may call for you to renounce existing plans, ambitions, goals. It is proper and timely for you to do so: the self properly aligned with the Self.
Transformations - Major life shifts, or complete transformation in attitude can be so radical that you are no longer able to live the ordinary life in the ordinary way.
In each life there comes at least one moment which, if recognized and seized, transforms the course of that life forever. Rely, on radical trust, even though the moment may call for you to leap empty-handed into the void. Let your warrior nature reveal itself.
Standstills - The winter of the spiritual life can sometimes bring a time of stillness when you feel powerless to do anything except submit, surrender, even sacrifice some long-cherished desire. Be patient, for this is the period of gestation that precedes a re-birth.
Positive accomplishment is unlikely now. there is a freeze on useful activity, all your plans are on hold. You may be experiencing an unaccustomed drain on your energy and wonder why: a chill wind is reaching you over the ice floes of old outmoded habits.
Trying to hold on can result in shallowness of feeling, a sense of being out of touch with life. Seek to discover what it is you are holding onto that perpetuates this condition and let go. Shed, release, cleanse away the old; doing so will bring on the thaw.
there is no reason for anxiety. Submit and be still, for what you are experiencing is not necessarily the result of your actions or habits, but rather arises from conditions about which you can do nothing. What has been full must empty, what has increased must decrease. This is the way of Heaven and Earth. To surrender is to display courage and wisdom.
The Divine, the Unknowable - Emptiness is the end, emptiness is the beginning. Your true identity and destiny will rise time and again like the phoenix from the ashes of what we call fate.
The Unknowable is in motion in your life, and holds all this is to be actualized.
Our deepest fears - will I fail? Will I be abandoned? Will it all be taken away? - will test our fate.
The unknowable represents the path of karma - the sum total of your actions and their consequences, the lessons that are yours in this lifetime. They too evolve, as we evolve. Nothing is predestined.
What beckons in life, is the creative power of the unknown. Create your legacy.
Instructors can impart only a fraction of the teaching. It is through your own devoted practice that the mysteries of the Art of Peace are brought to life.
Stay Committed - commitment applies to any activity or endeavor to which you want results. Be aware, however, that no quick results can be expected. You have prepared the ground and planted the seed. Now you must cultivate with care. To those whose labor has a long season, a long coming to term, it will. Remember the old story of the farmer who was so eager to assist his crops that he went out at night and tugged on the new shots. There is no way to push the river; equally you cannot hasten the harvest. Be mindful that patience is essential for the recognition of your own process which, in its season, leads to the harvest of the self.
Understand your Light - The more light you have, the better you can see what is trivial and outmoded in your own conditioning. Recognize that while on the one hand you are limited and dependent, on the other you exist at the perfect center where the harmonious and beneficent forces of the universe merge and radiate. You are the centre.
Spiritual Warrior - Always the battle of the spiritual warrior is with the self. Funding a will through action, yet unattachment to outcomes, remaining mindful that all you can really do is stay out of your way and let the Will of Heaven flow through you - these are among the hallmarks of the Spiritual Warrior.
Embodied in the Rune is the energy of discrimination, the swordlike quality that enables you to cut away the old, the dead, the extraneous. And yet with the Warrior Rune comes certain knowledge that the universe always has the first move. The reward of patience is patience.
Look within, to delve down to the foundations of life itself. Only in so doing can you hope to meet the deepest needs of your nature and tap into your most profound resources.
The urge for conquest, especially self-conquest, which is a life-long pursuit calls for awareness, single-mindedness and the willingness to undergo your passage with compassion and in total trust.
Devote yourself to a cause, an idea, or a path of conduct, and persevere, and sometimes the kind of perseverance that is called for is patience.
Resolve your strength to align the self with the Self.
Cultivate your own nature and allow life to flow - 'As I cultivate my own nature, all else follows'.
Immerse yourself in the experience of living without having to evaluate or understand. White the sun strives for differentiation, the moon draws us toward union and merging. sometimes success lies in contacting your intuitive wisdom and attuning to your own rhythms, and you may be called upon to study spiritual matters in readiness for self-transformation. Sacred living happens with the self relates rightly to the self.
Wholeness & Self-Realization - Wholeness is that which our nature requires. It embodies the impulse toward self-realization and indicates the path you must follow, not from ulterior motives but from the core of your individuality.
Seeking after wholeness is the Spiritual Warrior's quest. And yet what you are striving to become in actuality is what, by nature, you already are.
Become conscious of your essence and bring it into form, express it in a creative way.
Aim yourself truly and then maintain your aim without manipulative effort. For by our own power we do nothing: even in loving, it Love that loves through us. This way of thinking and being integrates new energies and permits us to flow into wholeness, which is the ultimate goal of the Spiritual Warrior.
Looking Inward - I no longer try to change outer things. They are simply a reflection. I change my inner perception and the outer reveals the beauty so long obscured by my own attitude. I concentrate on my inner vision and find my outer view transformed. I find myself attuned to the grandeur of life and in unison with the perfect order of the universe.
